| Model XPS-400 Xenon Lamp Power Supply |
|
|
Precision current source for xenon arc lamps from 100 to 400W of power. |
 |
|
APPLICATIONS
The XPS-400 Power supply is a highly stable current source for xenon and mercury-xenon arc
lamps. It has a built-in automatic igniter controller, however, to reduce the
electromagnetic interference the igniter itself has to be mounted in a shielded lamp
enclosure.
The XPS-400 is compatible with Solar Light's line of Solar Simulators (Models 16S-300 and
601-300). In conjunction with an igniter also available from solar light it can be used
with any lamp from 100 to 400 Watt. |
|
CONFIGURATION
The XPS-400 power supply comes with the line cord as specified by the customer. It can be
configured for 115 or 230 VAC operation. |
|
FEATURES
By employing modern switching technology the size and weight of the power supply is
considerably lower compared to equivalent products.
Due to a high switching frequency and multiple output filters the current ripple was
virtually eliminated assuring long life of the xenon lamp.
Internal ignition counter stops the automatic ignition cycle after approximately 10
attempts. External temperature sensor can be connected to provide thermal
shutdown should
the lamp overheat. A current error indicator warns if the power supply is nearing maximum
output voltage and may not continue to stabilize the lamp current.
The power supply senses the connection to the solar simulator and automatically initiates
the ignition cycle upon power-up. If the lamp does not ignite after several attempts the
power supply pauses and displays an IGNITION ERROR.
The thermal sensor input provides a means to shut the system down if the light source is
overheated. An OVERHEATING ERROR is set to indicate this condition.
The operating voltage of Xenon arc lamps increases with it's usage. If this voltage rises
above the maximum capacity of the power supply the current stabilization may not be
accurate. A CURRENT ERROR indicator signals this condition.
Controls and indicators:
ON/OFF rocker switch (automatically initiates ignition cycle)
LCD for current
or voltage monitoring (selectable with a rocker switch)
Coarse current switch w/
0.5A stops, calibrated with 1% accuracy
Fine current adjustment potentiometer (0 to
0.5A range)
Set of 5 LED indicators showing any erroneous conditions
