Paying for Electricity from the Utilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

An average home in California uses about 573 kWh of electricity every month<\/a>. At about $0.15 an hour, that ends up totaling $88 a month. While the electricity usage rate in California is actually lower than the national average, the cost of electricity purchased from the utilities is about 30% higher. At $88 a month, that ends up costing the average homeowner $1,056 every year.<\/p>\n

However, one factor that\u2019s not taken into account in these prices is the long term degradation and harm to the environment.
