How does Livsmart compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Livsmart builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Livsmart reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Reviewers give LivSmart a mixed read on sales and proposal integrity. Many describe patient, knowledgeable representatives who answered questions clearly, while others report pressure, unclear pitch framing, or solicitations that felt unwelcome.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Knowledgeable, low-pressure sales experience. Several reviewers say the sales team was patient, informative, and willing to explain what the company could and could not do without pressuring them. Representative review excerpt: "I can promise you this they were not pushy at all just really patient and knowledgeable of what they are doing."

Clear explanations from reps. Some reviewers describe the representatives as honest and able to answer questions thoroughly, which helped them feel more comfortable with the proposal. Representative review excerpt: "Michael from Livsmart was extremely honest and forthright about his company and honest with us about what his company could and could not do."

Pressure and solicitation complaints. Other reviewers report sales outreach that felt pushy or unwelcome, including concerns about solicitation and pitch framing that did not match their research or expectations. Representative review excerpt: "They left a flyer on my door, wedged in my wreath holder, when my door is CLEARLY labeled with "No Soliciting" not once, but TWICE."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency3.9/10

This is one of LivSmart’s weakest areas in the review set. A small group of reviewers praise clear financing explanations and budget fit, but most complaints center on pricing confusion, payment burdens, refund or payoff frustrations, and surprise cost concerns.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Frequent concerns about cost and payoff. Most critical reviews focus on payment burden, refund or payoff delays, and situations where the total cost felt higher than expected after the fact. Representative review excerpt: "Have been having a very hard time trying to get my check to payoff my other loan from my previous solar lease."

Transparent financing for some customers. Some reviewers say the company broke down financing clearly, explained long-term numbers, and walked through how the arrangement would work if they sold their home later. Representative review excerpt: "They broke down the financing clearly, showed me long-term numbers, and explained what happens if I sell the house later—which was a big concern for me."

Budget-conscious packages. A few reviewers describe help finding a package that fit their budget, and others say the pricing felt straightforward to them. Representative review excerpt: "We are on a fixed income and they were sure to help us find a package that fit our budget"

Communication & coordination

Communication4.8/10

Communication and coordination receive a mixed-to-negative response overall. Reviewers often praise responsive staff who explain next steps and keep projects moving, but a substantial share report slow replies, repeated follow-ups, and difficulty reaching the right person.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Responsive help for some customers. Several reviewers say staff were knowledgeable, courteous, and quick to schedule follow-up conversations that addressed their concerns in detail. Representative review excerpt: "Rodrigo and Chris promptly scheduled a follow-up meeting, remarkably, within a day and possibly beyond their usual work hours, to patiently address every one of my concerns."

Helpful education during the process. Some customers report that the team took time to educate them, brought in specialists when needed, and kept the process moving smoothly. Representative review excerpt: "They took the time to educate us, brought in engineers when needed, and never pressured us to buy."

Delayed replies and repeated follow-ups. Other reviewers describe having to send multiple emails or make repeated calls to get updates, with messages that someone would respond later but no clear resolution. Representative review excerpt: "I have to send FIVE OR SIX emails just to get someone to respond, only to be told that someone will reach out to me."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability5.0/10

Timeline feedback is mixed. Some reviewers say installation and activation moved quickly and inspections passed cleanly, while others report long waits, repeated delays, and confusion around when the system would actually be finished or turned on.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Fast installs for some projects. A number of reviewers say installation was fast, smooth, and efficient, with the crew finishing on schedule and the process feeling straightforward. Representative review excerpt: "Install was fast and effortless to me as promised!"

Smooth inspection and activation for some. Some customers report that the job moved through inspection without issues and that the installation team handled the schedule well. Representative review excerpt: "Install went smoothly, crew was professional and respectful of our home, and everything passed inspection without issues."

Long waits and repeated delays. Other reviewers describe projects taking months longer than expected, with repeated promises of completion dates that kept moving. Representative review excerpt: "It took 6 plus months to get solar finished."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship5.4/10

Many reviewers describe professional crews that cleaned up well and passed inspection, while others report installation choices or site issues that left them dissatisfied.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional crews and cleanup. Several reviewers say the installation crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left the property clean afterward. Representative review excerpt: "The crew showed up on time, knocked it out quickly, and cleaned everything up after."

Representative review excerpt: "Install went smoothly, crew was professional and respectful of our home, and everything passed inspection without issues."

Concerns about panel placement and site issues. Other reviewers describe dissatisfaction with installation decisions, including panel placement choices and unresolved site-related problems after the job. Representative review excerpt: "Out of 15 panels their technicians chose to install 12 of them on a North facing roof (anyone who knows anything about solar knows this is a no-no as North..."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support5.1/10

Post-install support and system performance are mixed. Some reviewers report helpful monitoring guidance, responsive support, and systems that perform as expected, but others describe unfinished follow-up work, performance concerns, and difficulty getting service after turn-on.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Follow-up and performance complaints. Other reviewers report unresolved post-install work, production concerns, and difficulty getting help when something needed to be completed or checked. Representative review excerpt: "Been calling multiple times to have them complete my critter guard install that was never fully finished when first installed and to check the panels that are producing barely anything..."

Helpful monitoring and support guidance. Several reviewers say staff explained the monitoring app clearly and were responsive to questions after the system was turned on. Representative review excerpt: "They also helped explain the monitoring app and made sure we understood how everything worked when we got PTO from Edison."

Some systems running as expected. A few customers report that their system has continued operating normally and that they have only been paying the expected service charge. Representative review excerpt: "It has been on for 10 months and we are only paying the service charge as promised !"

Bottom line: LivSmart’s review profile is mixed overall, with stronger marks for some sales interactions and installation experiences but weaker sentiment around pricing, communication, and post-install support. The most consistent complaints involve transparency around costs and financing, slow follow-up, and delays in finishing or resolving projects.

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
