Solar.com is a marketplace. We match homeowners with independent solar installers, and the installation work itself is performed by the matched contractor, not by Solar.com. Each matched installer holds the applicable state and local licenses required to perform solar installation in the area where they work.

We vet installers for proper licensing and insurance before they join the network, and we expect them to keep those credentials current for the regions they serve.

Verifying a license

Because the specific license that applies depends on your state and the installer matched to your project, the relevant contractor license number is available per project and state on request. Your matched installer can share their applicable license number, and we can help provide it.

Contractor accountability

Matched installers are independent contractors responsible for the licensing, permits, and workmanship of the installation they perform. Your agreement with the installer governs that work and any warranties on it. If a concern comes up during your project, contact us and we will help you work toward a resolution.
