How does Roofmasters compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Roofmasters builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Roofmasters reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.1/10

Reviewers mostly describe the sales and proposal process as straightforward, with several noting clear explanations, fair quotes, and helpful guidance through contract details. There is at least one complaint about honesty, so the category reads positive overall but not without caution.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Clear, helpful proposals. Reviewers say Roofmasters often took time to explain issues and provide quotes that felt fair and transparent. Some also describe helpful project management and follow-through on contract scope. Representative review excerpt: "They took the time to explain the issue, offered a fair and transparent quote, and completed the job quickly without compromising on quality."

Supportive contract handling. Several reviewers report that the team was responsive during the sales process and worked to make sure contract items were covered. The feedback suggests expectations were generally explained before work moved forward. Representative review excerpt: "Without hesitation, Johnathon sent Justin to review their work to ensure everything in our contract was covered and sent a couple of crew members back out very quickly to address..."

Isolated honesty concern. One reviewer describes a negative experience with trust and says they would not recommend doing business with the company. This appears as a complaint pattern rather than the dominant view in the sample. Representative review excerpt: "He was not honest, and I would not recommend doing business with him."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency7.0/10

Most reviewers describe pricing as fair, consistent, and sometimes better than expected. A smaller number of complaints mention missing breakdowns, payment expectations, or form-related confusion, so transparency is generally well regarded but not perfect.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Fair pricing reports. Several also note that Roofmasters stuck to the quoted price and delivered strong value for the cost. Representative review excerpt: "Not only was their estimate approximately half the price of the larger roofing company, but they provided far more value."

No surprise price changes. Reviewers describe the estimate as holding steady through the job, with some saying the company got permits and completed the work without changing the agreed price. That consistency is a recurring positive theme in the feedback. Representative review excerpt: "They got the permit, stuck to their price, and got the job done when they said they would, and did a good job."

Limited transparency complaints. A small number of reviewers report frustration over payment or breakdown details, including requests for more itemization. These comments suggest some unevenness in how costs and expectations were explained. Representative review excerpt: "They flatly and continually refused to give us the breakdown of their work despite our repeated requests, and demanded the full payment, “as per estimate”."

Communication & coordination

Communication7.8/10

Communication is a clear strength in the review sample, with many customers describing responsive contacts, prompt callbacks, and good day-to-day coordination. A few reviews mention missed timing or delayed follow-up, but those complaints are a small minority relative to the positive feedback.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Responsive project contacts. Reviewers frequently describe a main contact who answered questions quickly and stayed engaged through the job. Customers also mention getting calls returned promptly and feeling kept in the loop. Representative review excerpt: "One of the things I really like is that when you call Roofmasters, you deal with a real person (I spoke with Johnathon) who answers or returns calls promptly, is..."

Clear day-to-day updates. Several reviewers say the team communicated well, showed up when expected, and made the process feel organized. This feedback suggests strong project ownership during active work. Representative review excerpt: "Their customer service is outstanding, they answer the phone, they communicate well, they show up when they say they will, and they take pride in doing the job right."

Occasional coordination misses. A few reviewers report delays or confusion about whether the crew was scheduled to arrive. These complaints do not dominate the category, but they do show that coordination was not flawless for every project. Representative review excerpt: "After calling them to check whether they were coming, they finally sent someone over a few hours later, who seemed like having already worked a whole shift, and was ready..."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability7.2/10

Reviewers often say the company handled permits, inspections, and scheduling in a reliable way and generally met the expected timing. Still, a few comments point to delayed inspections or missed arrival expectations, so timeline performance is solid but not universally smooth.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Permits and approvals handled well. Several reviewers say Roofmasters stayed on top of permit-related steps until everything was approved. They also describe the company as effective at coordinating related work and moving the job forward. Representative review excerpt: "The company stayed on top of a few minor permitting issues until everything was approved, and coordinating the solar removal and reinstallation with NC Solar was effortless."

Work completed on schedule. Some customers report that the job finished when promised and that the overall timeline felt dependable. Reviewers also mention the company getting the permit and completing the work as scheduled. Representative review excerpt: "They got the permit, stuck to their price, and got the job done when they said they would, and did a good job."

A few delay complaints. A small number of reviewers say they were left waiting or were not told about delays soon enough. These reports suggest that timing issues can still come up on some projects.

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship8.4/10

This is one of Roofmasters’ strongest areas in the review sample. Reviewers frequently describe quality installation work, professional crews, careful cleanup, and attention to inspection-related fixes, with only one notable complaint appearing in the evidence set.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

High-quality installation work. Reviewers often describe the work itself as excellent, including repairs and roof replacements that met expectations. Some also note that the team was honest about what needed to be done and why. Representative review excerpt: "They did an outstanding job, and were very honest about needing a full roof replacement as it was time to replace due to installation issues and problems with the temperature..."

Professional crews and cleanup. Several customers say the crew cleaned up well each day and handled the job professionally. Even when small debris was mentioned, reviewers described it as minimal relative to the size of the project. Representative review excerpt: "Each day the crew did a good job cleaning up, and while we did find a few stray nails and screws here and there, it was minimal considering the size..."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support5.0/10

The post-installation sample is small, so this category is harder to judge confidently. The available reviews are positive about repair support and warranty-related service, but there are too few examples to establish a broad pattern.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Warranty-related repair support. One reviewer says Roofmasters returned to handle a repair that was covered for a period of time because of the roof’s conditions. That suggests at least some post-install support experience was positive. Representative review excerpt: "Had Roofmasters out to my Walnut Creek home for a repair that they warranties for 2 years due to the area and slope of our roof."

Helpful follow-up explanations. Another reviewer describes a technician who documented issues, explained why repairs might be needed, and answered questions before work proceeded. This points to a careful approach after the initial installation phase. Representative review excerpt: "Inspector Josh always takes pictures and explains why repairs may be necessary, answers any questions we may have, and we always have the option of proceeding or not without feeling..."

Limited evidence set. There are only a few post-installation reviews in the analyzed sample, so this area has less coverage than the others. The available feedback is positive, but the small volume makes the score less certain. Representative review excerpt: "Roofmasters did great work clearing debris from our roof and replacing our old skylight."

Bottom line: Roofmasters’ review profile is strongest in workmanship, communication, and general project coordination, where most customers describe responsive service and solid installation quality. Price and proposal feedback is also mostly positive, though a few reviews raise transparency or timing concerns. The main limitation is the very small post-installation sample, which makes long-term support harder to assess with confidence.

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
