#475 of 678 scored in California by Solar.com Installer Score

How does Simply Solar compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Simply Solar builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Simply Solar reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback across Google and Yelp, updated September 23, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.2/10

Reviewers often describe the sales process as informative and helpful, with multiple comments about clear explanations and guidance through system options. At the same time, a smaller but meaningful set of reviews says certain fees, contract details, and savings-related expectations were not as clear as they should have been.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Helpful proposal guidance. Many reviewers say the sales team took time to explain options and walk them through battery and solar decisions in a way that felt easy to follow. Representative review excerpt: "Janet did a fantastic job walking me through my options and educating me about solar and battery."

Clear, low-pressure conversations. Some customers describe the process as easy to work with even when the project had a few tricky parts. Representative review excerpt: "Janet was a gem and very easy to work with even through a few sticky parts."

Contract and fee disputes. Other reviewers report confusion or disagreement over charges that they say were not clearly laid out in the original agreement, including added work orders and referral-related expectations. Representative review excerpt: "Our contract states no charge to customer for removal and replacement and they are trying to charge us over $3,000 for this service."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency4.9/10

Feedback on pricing and financing is mixed but leans negative. Some reviewers say the company provided helpful cost breakdowns and financing guidance, while others report surprise charges, disputed fees, or outcomes they felt did not match the original pricing conversation.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Helpful cost and financing guidance. Several reviewers say the team ran numbers carefully and helped connect them with financing options that felt manageable. Representative review excerpt: "Ran lots of #'s for me, helped with connecting me for low interest financing to a specific credit union and was just overall great to work with."

Value-focused estimates. Some customers describe the pricing discussion as clear and say they felt they understood the services, timelines, and costs before moving forward. Representative review excerpt: "They do a phenomenal job when it comes to creating value and information regarding their services, timelines, and costs."

Unexpected charges and billing complaints. A notable share of reviewers report disputes over extra charges, contract interpretation, or bills that changed in ways they did not expect. Representative review excerpt: "Our contract states no charge to customer for removal and replacement and they are trying to charge us over $3,000 for this service."

Communication & coordination

Communication6.8/10

Communication reviews trend positive overall, with many customers describing polite crews, clear updates, and professional handoffs. Still, a substantial complaint pattern says responses could be slow and follow-up sometimes lagged, especially when customers needed repair or project support.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Clear, professional updates. Reviewers often describe the team as communicative and professional from the first call through the end of the project. Representative review excerpt: "From the very first call to the last step of the process, everything was handled with professionalism, clear communication, and genuine care."

Good onsite coordination. Some customers say the onsite workers were polite and kept them informed during the job. Representative review excerpt: "Very good communications and excellent onsite vigilant and polite workers."

Slow response and weak follow-up. Other reviewers report delayed replies, difficulty reaching the company, and frustration with project follow-through. Representative review excerpt: "Subsequent calls informed us that they are understaffed and having problems with project follow-up."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability7.1/10

Timeline feedback is mostly favorable, with many reviewers saying installations moved along efficiently once approvals were in place. The complaint side centers on missed appointments, scheduling slips, and occasional delays tied to inspection or activation steps.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Efficient scheduling after approval. Some reviewers say the company was able to schedule installation quickly once the project was approved. Representative review excerpt: "Once approved, we started working with Jack, our project manager and the panels were schedulled to be installed on our house in just two weeks!"

Good pace on urgent timelines. A few customers report that the company helped them complete the initial install in time for an important deadline. Representative review excerpt: "They were truly excellent at getting my initial install completed and getting me in under the NEM2 deadline a few years ago."

Missed or delayed appointments. Other reviewers describe late arrivals, incomplete visits, or delays around the handoff from inspection to install. Representative review excerpt: "The installer showed up hours off of our appointment time, didn’t have a part, and left."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship7.9/10

Workmanship is one of the stronger areas in the review set. Many customers praise the crews for professional installation, careful explanations, and solid site conduct, though a smaller group reports rough finishes, roof wear, or serious installation problems.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional installation crews. Reviewers frequently describe the installers and on-site contacts as smart, friendly, and patient while the equipment was being installed. Representative review excerpt: "Gio, the electrician and main contact on site was both smart, friendly and patient in explaining the details while the solar panels, Tesla PowerWall batteries and solar inverter were installed."

Strong setup and inspection support. Some customers say the site inspection and installation process gave them confidence that the system was being set up correctly. Representative review excerpt: "Andrew, the site inspector, kept things moving and gave me peace of mind that everything was set up right before installation even began."

Rough or problematic installs. A smaller set of reviews reports sloppy work, roof wear, or installation issues that needed follow-up attention. Representative review excerpt: "Installation a little rough/sloppy, alot of wear to my existing roof."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support7.4/10

Post-install support reviews are mostly positive but more mixed than workmanship feedback. Reviewers praise quick responses to component failures and ongoing help, while others report production issues, repair delays, and disputes over service or warranty-related costs.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Responsive help after equipment issues. Some customers say the company notified them when parts failed and helped get replacements scheduled. Representative review excerpt: "When the inverter failed they notified me placed the part on order and scheduled the installation."

Supportive through tricky follow-up. A few reviewers describe the post-install team as easy to work with even when there were complications. Representative review excerpt: "Janet was a gem and very easy to work with even through a few sticky parts."

Repair and production complaints. Other reviewers report systems going out of service, repair requests taking too long, or disputes over what support was covered. Representative review excerpt: "Since then something like 70% of the optimizers on my panels have failed and large portions of my array have been out of service for some time now meaning I..."

Bottom line: Simply Solar’s review profile is mixed but leans positive overall, with stronger marks for workmanship and generally solid sales guidance. The biggest caution areas are price and financing transparency, along with uneven communication and some post-install support complaints. Reviewers most often praise the crews and the clarity of many project conversations, while complaint patterns concentrate around unexpected charges, follow-up delays, and repair or performance issues.

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
