How does Solar Service Professionals compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Solar Service Professionals builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Solar Service Professionals reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.2/10

Reviewers most often describe the sales process as honest and straightforward, especially when the company explained options clearly or gave realistic guidance on repair and restoration. A smaller set of reviewers report missing follow-up or trouble getting the promised proposal, so the overall picture is positive with a few clear exceptions.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Honest guidance. Reviewers say the company gave direct, practical explanations and did not oversell what was needed to get a system working again. Representative review excerpt: "This company was honest and told me if I had the worthless batteries disconnected, I could generate power again."

Repair-first approach. Some reviewers describe receiving honest answers and repair-focused help after struggling with other installers. Representative review excerpt: "After months of trying to get answers and assistance from other installers without any success, Solar Service was able to reconnect our panels and provide honest answers."

Proposal follow-up gap. A complaint pattern shows up around not receiving promised proposals or replies after initial contact. Representative review excerpt: "I wrote to Joshua Manno asking for the promised proposal, I never got any reply."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency6.0/10

Reviews on pricing are mixed overall. Several reviewers describe reasonable or fair pricing and say the company helped them avoid unnecessary charges, while others report prices felt high or said follow-up issues made the value feel weaker.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Reasonable pricing reported. Reviewers say pricing felt reasonable in some repair cases, including situations where the company checked warranty coverage first. Representative review excerpt: "Refreshingly, I found their prices to be very reasonable, especially considering they reached out to the manufacturer and determined the part I needed was still under warranty."

Avoided overcharging. Some reviewers describe the company as advocating for the homeowner and not adding unnecessary cost when resolving a problem. Representative review excerpt: "Just a really high character guy who advocates for the homeowner with the solar manufacturer to get things covered under warranty, solves the problem quickly and doesn’t overcharge."

Price felt high. A complaint pattern notes that at least one reviewer felt the quoted price was too high for the work performed. Representative review excerpt: "I originally had left at five stars but brought it down to three stars because the price that I got to do the work I thought it was very high."

Communication & coordination

Communication6.7/10

Communication is one of the more frequently mentioned themes, and most reviewers describe the team as responsive, professional, and willing to follow through. Still, a meaningful minority report poor follow-up, difficulty getting callbacks, or confusion during coordination, which keeps this category below the stronger scores.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Follow-up problems. A recurring complaint is poor follow-up from start to finish, including difficulty getting someone to come back out or provide clear next steps. Representative review excerpt: "Just really poor follow up from beginning to end and sensed a lot of attitude from their Ops manager when trying to get them to come back out or follow..."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability6.0/10

Timeline feedback is mixed. Some reviewers say appointments happened as scheduled and work moved quickly, but others report delays tied to follow-up, permits, or activation issues that pushed projects longer than expected.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Arrived as promised. Some reviewers say the company arrived when scheduled and completed the work promptly. Representative review excerpt: "The key for me is working with a company that does what it says, responds timely to questions, and most importantly, arrives when they say they will without providing a..."

Handled delays well. Reviewers also note cases where equipment or permit delays occurred, but the team kept the project moving. Representative review excerpt: "We had some delays with equipment and fire permits that pushed our project out longer than anticipated, but SSP handled it like pros and kept it moving."

Activation delays. A complaint pattern mentions extended waits tied to PTO or activation-related follow-up, with customers saying the system was not fully credited or resolved on time. Representative review excerpt: "3-4 weeks went by, now February 2026, he stated that I don’t have PTO and that’s why I haven’t been getting any credit for my solar power."

Representative review excerpt: "My installer is out of business and due to an installation issue, one of the arrays went offline."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support7.2/10

Long-term support and system performance reviews are mostly positive, especially when the company helped restore production, coordinate warranty work, or troubleshoot issues after installation. Complaints do appear around delayed service and systems that remained offline or required repeated follow-up, but they are less common than the praise.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Restored production. Reviewers say the company helped bring systems back online and, in some cases, improved production after troubleshooting. Representative review excerpt: "For $299 and 47 pictures later, I’m now producing more power than I’m using during the day."

Warranty help. Some customers describe strong warranty support and advocacy with manufacturers to get parts or repairs covered. Representative review excerpt: "Just a really high character guy who advocates for the homeowner with the solar manufacturer to get things covered under warranty, solves the problem quickly and doesn’t overcharge."

Service delays and outages. A recurring complaint is that some customers waited weeks for a checkup or reported systems that still were not working properly afterward. Representative review excerpt: "Took several weeks to get them to come and check out my solar system."

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
