#53 of 678 scored in California by Solar.com Installer Score

How does Solar Source compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Solar Source builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Solar Source reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback across Google and Yelp, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.6/10

Reviews in this category are mostly positive, with customers describing professional representatives, clear explanations, and a smooth sales-to-install handoff. A small number of complaints mention pressure or unexpected scope changes, but those appear rare relative to the overall praise.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional, thorough proposals. Reviewers say representatives walked through the installation and proposal details carefully and professionally, which helped set expectations. Representative review excerpt: "Their representative was totally professional and went over every aspect of the installation."

Easy to work with end-to-end. Some customers describe the sales, install, and bookkeeping teams as accommodating and straightforward to deal with. Representative review excerpt: "The entire team sales, install, bookkeeping was very easy to work with and were very accommodating."

Watch-out: occasional scope or pressure concerns. A few reviewers report last-minute changes to the project scope or unwanted sales pressure, so some experiences were less smooth than the majority. Representative review excerpt: "We started our solar journey using SCE's service to match us with contractor--everything was going okay until they called and said we needed to move our electrical panel and do..."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency7.2/10

Feedback on pricing and financing is largely positive, with many reviewers describing fair pricing and a comfortable process. The complaint pattern is limited but includes a small number of posts about later issues or unexpected costs after the initial sale.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Fair pricing reported. Reviewers commonly describe the pricing as fair or strong, and some say the process felt easy from the start. Representative review excerpt: "Their prices are unbeatable, the process was super easy, and the crew was fantastic."

Patient through project changes. Some customers say the team stayed patient when a renovation or other project timing stretched longer than expected, which helped keep the financing and project process manageable. Representative review excerpt: "Stephen and Beth worked patiently with me during the process of a home renovation project that took much longer than anticipated."

Watch-out: later cost concerns. A small number of reviewers mention frustration tied to costs or post-install issues after years of ownership, suggesting that not every pricing expectation stayed uncomplicated over time. Representative review excerpt: "We've had our solar system for about 6 years now and have been generally happy up until a few months ago when, of course, one of the pieces of electronic..."

Communication & coordination

Communication8.5/10

This is one of the strongest categories in the review set. Customers repeatedly describe quick responses, helpful coordination, and active management of permits, inspections, and utility communications, with only a few complaints about missed calls or dropped balls.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Responsive follow-up. Reviewers often say questions were answered quickly and that staff stayed engaged throughout the project. Representative review excerpt: "Any time I had a question, Beth and Stephen were extremely quick to answer, and Beth especially worked overtime to get her team out to my home as soon as..."

Handled permits and utility communication. Customers frequently credit the team with coordinating permits, inspections, approvals, and communication with the utility on their behalf. Representative review excerpt: "They handled all communications with Southern California Edison (SCE), as well as permits, inspections and approvals with the city."

Complaint pattern: missed follow-through in a few cases. A small number of reviewers report difficulty getting callbacks or say coordination broke down on specific service requests, even though these complaints are limited relative to the broader praise. Representative review excerpt: "One didn’t return calls or email and the other was too busy, plus didn’t want to take on new customers not in their database."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability7.3/10

Timeline feedback is mostly positive, but it is more mixed than the communication score. Many reviewers describe a smooth path through permits and activation, while a smaller set report delays tied to permitting, inspections, or scheduling.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Permitting and approvals handled well. Several reviewers say the company managed the city and utility-side process effectively, which helped projects move toward activation. Representative review excerpt: "They handled all communications with Southern California Edison (SCE), as well as permits, inspections and approvals with the city."

Project timing sometimes shifted. Some customers report that their project finished later than the original schedule, even when they did not place the delay fully on Solar Source. Representative review excerpt: "The project finished after the initial schedule but I feel that it is not a fault of Solar Source."

Watch-out: permit and scheduling delays. A handful of reviewers describe long waits around permitting or inspections, and a few mention stalled timelines when appointments or activation steps did not move as quickly as expected. Representative review excerpt: "Because we live in Long Beach we were stalled for a looooonnnngggg time with their archaic permitting process, but Jarrod stayed in touch letting us know what was going on."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship8.6/10

Reviewers are highly positive about installation quality and crew professionalism. The main theme is clean, careful work with timely completion and strong responsiveness during installation, while complaints about workmanship are rare.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Timely, professional crews. Reviewers often say the crew worked efficiently, answered questions quickly, and kept the installation moving in a professional way. Representative review excerpt: "What's more they installed everything in a timely manner, were available INSTANTLY for questions and provided speedy feedback."

Rare workmanship issue. A small number of posts mention installation or completion problems tied to system checks or prior installer issues, but this is not a common theme in the corpus. Representative review excerpt: "The company that installed our solar system, Infinity Energy, went out of business before they completed the system checks."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support8.9/10

This is the strongest category in the review set. Reviewers frequently say Solar Source helped keep systems producing, responded quickly after turn-on, and provided helpful post-install support, with only a few complaints about warranty or service expectations.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Representative review excerpt: "She reached out to Enphase, got us on the phone, got my system up and running again in less than 24 hours from my original phone call."

Systems performing well over time. Several reviewers report being pleased with system performance and the customer service they received after the sale was complete. Representative review excerpt: "We have been dealing with Solar Source since 2017 and are very pleased with the performance of our system and the high degree of customer service provided by both the..."

Watch-out: warranty or service dissatisfaction in a few cases. A small number of reviewers mention disappointment with promised support or unresolved equipment issues, indicating that post-install experiences are not uniformly positive. Representative review excerpt: "One of the reasons that we decided to go with Solar Source was their 10 year warranty that was promised with their system."

Bottom line: Across 159 substantive reviews, Solar Source scores especially well for communication, workmanship, and long-term support, with customers often describing quick responses and helpful post-install service. The softer spots are timeline reliability and pricing transparency, where a minority of reviewers report delays, scope changes, or later cost concerns. Overall, the review pattern is strongly positive with a few recurring watch-outs rather than broad, repeated complaints.

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
