#603 of 678 scored in California by Solar.com Installer Score

How does Precis Solar compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Precis Solar builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Precis Solar reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity6.5/10

Reviewers give mixed-to-positive feedback on sales clarity and proposal handling. Many describe the team as honest, informative, and straightforward, while a notable minority report that expectations were not set clearly or that follow-through felt inadequate when issues came up.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Clear and helpful sales process. Several reviewers say the sales experience felt honest and informative, with questions answered directly and contract details handled well. Representative review excerpt: "Very informative and straight forward and literally provide the BEST solar panels on the market at a very competitive price!"

Straightforward guidance. Reviewers also describe the team as friendly and not overly pushy, saying the conversation felt focused on helping them choose a system. Representative review excerpt: "He's not a sales man, he is a guy trying to help others get good panels."

Expectation gaps. Some complaints say important limitations or next steps were not explained up front, and that support after the sale was difficult to get when concerns surfaced. Representative review excerpt: "Of course, they don't tell you that up front, only when you are waiting for a representative to arrive."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency4.6/10

Feedback on pricing and financing is mixed but leans negative.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Cost and payment disputes. Complaints center on customers saying the project ended up costing more than expected, with reports of large payments, out-of-pocket losses, or systems that did not justify the price paid. Representative review excerpt: "They changed hands in the middle of my project, quit responding to me, after being paid $56,000 cash, left me hanging."

Pricing pricing examples. Reviewers describe a recurring pattern in this area. Representative review excerpt: "Oh we also shopped the quote and they came in with a competitive price."

Financing paperwork handled quickly. A few customers mention that loan documents were completed promptly once financing was approved, which helped keep the project moving. Representative review excerpt: "Even when we did a refi and needed loan paperwork filled, Tim got it done for me ASAP."

Communication & coordination

Communication4.8/10

Communication and coordination draw a split response, but the complaints are substantial. Positive reviews mention frequent check-ins and clear updates, while negative reviews describe slow responses, project handoff problems, and a lack of accountability when customers needed help.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Proactive updates. Some reviewers say staff stayed on top of the project and kept checking in throughout the process. Representative review excerpt: "The process went very well as far as the setup - Taryn, Denise, and Bret stayed very on top of everything with me, constantly checking in on whether or not..."

Clear technical coordination. A few customers report that staff helped align the system design with their needs by communicating details clearly ahead of time. Representative review excerpt: "If you install battery friend mini-split AC systems, and want it on the backup load, just make sure you communicate that clearly ahead of time with their engineers and ensure..."

Responsiveness problems. Complaints often focus on the team going quiet mid-project or failing to respond when customers raised concerns, leaving them unsure who was responsible for next steps. Representative review excerpt: "They changed hands in the middle of my project, quit responding to me, after being paid $56,000 cash, left me hanging."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability5.6/10

Timeline feedback is mixed, with some reviewers reporting on-time installation and steady follow-up, but others describing delays tied to permits, inspections, technician revisits, or activation. The pattern suggests the schedule was dependable for some projects and much slower or less predictable for others.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

On-time installs reported. Some reviewers say the crew arrived when scheduled and completed the installation in the expected timeframe. Representative review excerpt: "The installation team, lead by Ed, arrived at the scheduled time and completed the solar project in two (2) days."

Permitting and PTO delays. Other reviews say the timeline stretched out because of permitting, utility permission to operate, or other outside delays that pushed commissioning back. Representative review excerpt: "I honestly waited longer for the city to issue my permit and am still waiting on SoCal Edison to grant me a Permission to Operate (PTO)."

Delayed follow-through. Complaints also describe repeated technician visits or stalled project progress when something needed to be fixed or completed. Representative review excerpt: "They've sent 2 or 3 different technicians out to "fix" or "replace" something which has resulted in me having to call in to find out the technician "didn't do it..."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship7.4/10

This is one of the stronger areas in the review set. Many customers praise professional crews, clean installs, and solid-looking systems, though there are still some complaints about roof damage, installation problems, or repairs that were needed after the fact.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional crews. Reviewers frequently describe the installation crew as professional and communicative during the work. Representative review excerpt: "The installation crew was very professional and communicated with us about everything they were doing."

Clean-looking installs. Several customers say the installation was seamless and that the finished system looked good on the home. Representative review excerpt: "The install was seamless and my system look absolutely amazing."

Damage and repair complaints. A smaller set of reviews reports roof damage, missteps during installation, or systems that needed follow-up repair after the initial work. Representative review excerpt: "First, the roofing company inspected the roof after the panels were reinstalled and found serious damage to the new roof by Sunpower by Precis."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support6.0/10

Post-install support and system performance are mixed. Some reviewers say their systems kept producing well over time and that warranty issues were eventually addressed, while others report output problems, service delays, or frustration getting help after installation.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Long-term production praise. A few reviewers say their systems were still producing well years later, suggesting solid longer-term performance for those projects. Representative review excerpt: "6 years later and it is still producing more than we anticipated."

Warranty follow-up handled. Some customers report that warranty-related repairs were eventually completed after they raised the issue. Representative review excerpt: "6/17 Update: They came to honor the warranty and repaired the roof leak, stating that a water test was performed."

Post-install service frustration. Complaints focus on systems not producing as expected, repeated service attempts, or difficulty getting the right help after the project was turned on. Representative review excerpt: "This is unreal how many times they keep installing garbage and it not working correctly - which means not producing any energy."

Bottom line: PRECIS SOLAR’s review profile is mixed overall, with stronger feedback for workmanship and generally decent sales experiences, but weaker marks for pricing transparency, communication, and long-term support. Reviewers most often describe issues around cost expectations, project coordination, and getting timely help after installation, while installation quality itself is more often praised.

Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
