#504 of 678 scored in California by Solar.com Installer Score

How does Solartech compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Solartech builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Solartech reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback across Google and Yelp, updated September 23, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.2/10

Reviewers most often describe the sales process as clear, professional, and low-pressure, with several saying representatives stayed involved and explained options well. The main criticism is that some customers felt expectations were not fully aligned with later project execution or saw confusing handoffs after the sale.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Clear, low-pressure sales. Many reviewers say sales representatives were professional, answered questions clearly, and did not pressure them into a decision. Representative review excerpt: "He explained everything clearly and made the whole process simple without any pressure."

Helpful through proposal stage. Some customers appreciated reps who stayed involved after the initial proposal and helped coordinate the next steps. Representative review excerpt: "He stayed involved from the proposal through to coordinating with the payment team, which we really appreciated."

Expectation gaps after the sale. A smaller but recurring set of reviews says the sales pitch or contract expectations did not fully match what happened later in the project. Representative review excerpt: "We didn't know that the panels don't start counting towards our bill until the city gives final approval so even though it's generating power right now, our energy bill isn't..."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency4.4/10

This category trends negative. Reviewers frequently mention unclear financing terms, refund problems, large deposits, and confusion about when project benefits or billing effects would begin. A smaller group describes the value and admin support as straightforward, but the complaint pattern is material.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Refund and deposit concerns. Several reviewers report frustration with large deposits, refund delays, or payment issues that were not resolved smoothly. Representative review excerpt: "On 12/31/2025 my check was cashed and ever since then I have been trying to get my refund with no avail."

Billing timing confusion. Some customers say they were not fully informed about when the system would affect their bill, which created disappointment after installation. Representative review excerpt: "We didn't know that the panels don't start counting towards our bill until the city gives final approval so even though it's generating power right now, our energy bill isn't..."

Clearer value for some customers. A smaller set of reviews says the system and supporting work felt worthwhile and that the admin side was handled smoothly. Representative review excerpt: "The rest of the SolarTech team has also been on top of things, handling all the admin and background work smoothly and keeping me updated along the way."

Communication & coordination

Communication6.3/10

Reviewers often describe the team as responsive and helpful during active projects, with many praising clear explanations and hands-on coordination. At the same time, a notable number of complaints focus on slow follow-up, repeated outreach from customers, and confusion about status or next steps.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Responsive when engaged. Many reviewers say staff responded quickly, explained issues clearly, and helped move projects along. Representative review excerpt: "He communicated with us day and night, always responded right away, and went out of his way to explain every step in a clear and honest way."

Hands-on coordination. Some customers report that the company stayed involved across the project and helped with questions or issue resolution. Representative review excerpt: "If you're considering solar and want a company that's genuinely helpful, responsive, and patient with all your questions, I'd highly recommend SolarTech — and ask for Will."

Repeated chasing for updates. A recurring complaint is that customers had to contact the company multiple times to get basic status information or answers. Representative review excerpt: "It's been over a month and I have reached out several times to get an update since this is costing us money."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability5.4/10

Reviews are mixed on timing. Some customers say crews arrived on schedule and moved projects forward quickly, while others report long permitting, inspection, or utility-approval delays that left systems waiting for completion or activation.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

On-time crews and fast work. Positive reviews often mention punctual crews and efficient on-site work once the job was underway. Representative review excerpt: "From giving me a heads up of their schedule, to a definite window the day before, to arriving exactly on time, to an professional work practice."

Active effort to meet deadlines. Some customers say the team worked to keep the project moving and tried to secure installation by an important deadline. Representative review excerpt: "Despite this, Dave worked with us every step along the way, adjusting his team and doing everything possible to secure our installation in time for the NEM 2.0 deadline."

Long approval delays. Other reviewers describe months of delay around permits, inspections, or paperwork before the system was fully usable. Representative review excerpt: "When they finally finished the installation, they failed to submit the proper paperwork to SDGE -- leaving us without an official online connection until May."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship7.8/10

Most reviews in this category are positive, with customers praising professional crews, efficient installations, and careful cleanup or follow-through. Complaints do appear, but they are less common than the praise and usually focus on rework, roof-related issues, or installation mistakes that needed correction.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional installation crews. Many reviewers describe the installers as prompt, professional, and efficient on site. Representative review excerpt: "He was prompt, professional, and was able to diagnose and fix the problem in a short amount of time."

Careful, smooth installs. Customers often say the crew completed the work cleanly and with limited disruption. Representative review excerpt: "On the hottest day of the summer his crew installed our solar panels and Powerwall with limited power interruptions."

Rework and site issues. A smaller group reports installation mistakes, roof concerns, or problems that required repeat visits to fix. Representative review excerpt: "The installers put the panels in the wrong place then we had them moved, the job was done so sloppy we had to have them redo it multiple times because..."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support7.9/10

Post-install feedback is generally positive, with many reviewers saying the company helped restore monitoring, correct battery or system issues, and handle follow-up service. Still, a meaningful number of complaints mention slow repairs, unresolved functionality problems, or confusion about when the system would start delivering expected results.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Helpful post-install service. Reviewers often say staff came back to repair issues, restore monitoring, or correct battery problems after installation. Representative review excerpt: "Solar tech and their tech, Irwin, did an excellent job restoring monitoring for me today."

Issue resolution after turn-on. Some customers describe successful follow-up work that got the system operating again or improved performance. Representative review excerpt: "This morning, he corrected the problem we were having with our Tesla battery."

Unresolved performance concerns. A smaller set of reviews says systems did not work as expected right away, or that support after payment was slow or unclear. Representative review excerpt: "Solar Tech has left us with a fully paid, non‑functioning system for nearly a year, with no clear timeline and no ownership of the problem."

Bottom line: SolarTech’s review profile is strongest on workmanship and long-term support, while sales and communication land in the middle. The clearest weakness is price and financing transparency, where reviewers most often report confusion about deposits, refunds, or billing-related expectations.

How this is built: category scores and summaries weigh the company's full published rating record (1,087 Google reviews averaging 4.7 stars), the most recent and most relevant review texts, and recurring feedback themes verified acrossGoogle and Yelp. Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
