#515 of 678 scored in California by Solar.com Installer Score

How does Sunlux compare where you live? Rankings are local; an installer that leads one city can trail in the next. See how they rank in your city →

Why this differs from star ratings: most five-star reviews say “great company” and stop, and star averages reward that. These category scores only count reviews with concrete evidence, weighted by recency and the reviewer’s track record. A company can hold a strong star average while specific categories score lower; that gap is usually where the real story is. Categories with more complaints than praise are the questions worth asking any bidder, not necessarily dealbreakers.

Where Sunlux builds

County-by-county activity from CPUC records through May 2026.

What this data covers: *Counts on this page, including the totals up top, come from investor-owned-utility interconnection records (SCE, SDG&E, PG&E). Work in municipal-utility territory, such as LADWP or city utilities, and outside California does not appear here, so this company's true totals are higher than shown. Unlike the county rankings, this profile also shows counties below the 250-install ranking floor.

Sunlux reviews: what customers say

An independent synthesis of published customer feedback across Google and Yelp, updated September 28, 2026. Green marks praise, amber mixed experiences, red complaints.

Sales & proposal integrity

Sales Integrity7.2/10

Reviewers most often describe the sales process as clear and informative, with many saying questions were answered directly and options were explained before moving forward. Complaints do appear, but they are a minority of the evidence and center on inconsistent expectations, pressure, or promises that some customers say were not met.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Clear explanations. Many reviewers say the sales team explained how the system would work and helped them understand their options before signing. Representative review excerpt: "He answered all of my questions Honestly and made sure I understood my options before moving on."

Helpful proposal discussions. Some customers report that representatives walked through system design and pricing details in a way that made the proposal easier to evaluate. Representative review excerpt: "Mike Valencia, VP of Sales and Marketing, did a great job explaining how solar would work best for us."

Expectation and promise issues. A smaller set of reviewers describes concerns about promised incentives, post-install follow-up, or sales expectations not matching what they say happened later. Representative review excerpt: "I was promised a 1000 bonus in July 2024 if I signed up for instillation."

Price & financing transparency

Price Transparency5.3/10

This is a mixed area, with praise for customized system planning and some acknowledgement of external pricing or incentive changes. At the same time, reviewers frequently report surprise costs, cancellation friction, rebate timing issues, and dissatisfaction with the final value received.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Customized pricing discussions. Some reviewers say the team adjusted proposals to fit their needs and explained cost-related market changes during the process. Representative review excerpt: "Developed a system to meet my needs and made adjustment as requested."

Incentive and rebate timing. A number of reviewers describe confusion or disappointment around rebate timing and other incentive-related expectations. Representative review excerpt: "it took longer than expected to get the solar panel system up and running but our biggest regret was being told that the home would qualify for a rebate even..."

Unexpected costs. Complaints in this category commonly mention high final system costs, extra charges after signing, or added expenses tied to changes and rework. Representative review excerpt: "So I paid, and after that, they told me to uninstall and reinstall the solar panel will need to cost me $6,300."

Communication & coordination

Communication6.1/10

Reviewers often describe responsive project managers and regular status updates during active work. The main complaint pattern is post-sale communication, especially difficulty getting callbacks, email responses, or clear ownership once issues arise.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Regular project updates. Many customers say assigned project managers stayed available and kept them informed as the installation moved forward. Representative review excerpt: "Elizabeth Haygood, our assigned project manager was always available when we had questions about the process and was consistently providing us updates on the status of our installation."

Smooth handoffs. Some reviewers report coordinated transitions between team members during design, inspections, and PTO-related steps. Representative review excerpt: "Our project management started with Gabriel Benko during the design and operation phase then transitioned to Elizabeth Haygood, then Jessica Delgado, who managed inspections and the final PTO approval with..."

Hard to reach after sale. Complaints commonly focus on unanswered calls, full voicemail boxes, and delayed follow-up once the project moves into support or repair mode. Representative review excerpt: "Voice mailbox is always full, they don't answer the phone and they don't respond to emails."

Timeline reliability

Timeline Reliability6.1/10

Many reviewers say the company kept projects moving and communicated schedule status during permitting, inspections, and activation. Still, delays show up often enough to matter, with some customers pointing to city approvals, utility steps, weather, or unclear timing as sources of frustration.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Stayed on schedule. Several reviewers say the installation stayed on track and that they were kept aware of the overall process and timeline. Representative review excerpt: "They constantly work to ensure that we are satisfied and have always stayed on schedule."

Permitting and utility delays. Some customers describe slower-than-expected approval or activation steps, especially when city, utility, or inspection timing was involved. Representative review excerpt: "From Sunlux dealing with the Gas Company, DWP, and the city inspectors, it can get to be time consuming, but they keep you abreast to what’s going on."

Extended delays and missed expectations. A recurring complaint is that the project took longer than expected or that issues were not addressed quickly after delays began. Representative review excerpt: "Don't want to bore you with all the install issues, extended timeline and being ignored."

Workmanship & site care

Workmanship7.0/10

Most reviewers describe the crews as professional and the installation process as organized. The complaint side is smaller but material, with reports of roof debris, crooked panels, broken tiles, and post-install concerns such as leaks or repair follow-through.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

Professional crews. Many reviewers say the installation team was straightforward, organized, and handled the job professionally from start to PTO. Representative review excerpt: "SunLux successfully completed our solar + battery installation in Fontana, CA, and the entire process was handled professionally from start to PTO."

Efficient crew process. Some customers describe the installation crew as large, well-coordinated, and fast-moving on site. Representative review excerpt: "They showed up with a large crew and the team's process was like clockwork."

Cleanup and roof issues. Complaints include debris left behind, damaged roofing materials, uneven panel placement, and concerns about leaks after installation. Representative review excerpt: "There was a lot of debris left on roof, broken tiles exposing sheathing, solar panels not leveled and crooked."

Long-term support & performance

Long-Term Support7.0/10

Reviewers often report that their systems are producing power and that added equipment like batteries is working well. The main downside is support after activation: some customers say service responses take days or that warranty and repair requests are not handled quickly enough.Solar.com's composite of published customer feedback, not a customer quote

System performance feedback. Several reviewers say their system is up and running and that the added battery or storage setup is working as expected. Representative review excerpt: "The recent addition of a Tesla Powerwall compliments an already great system."

Power production results. Some customers report that their systems are meeting day-to-day needs after activation, including overnight battery support. Representative review excerpt: "The Power Wall supplies all of our electrical needs through the night when there is no solar production."

Slow post-install support. Complaints often focus on delayed responses for service, warranty, or repair requests once the system is already in service. Representative review excerpt: "Customer service and communication simply do not exist unless you are a brand-new customer."

Bottom line: SUNLUX’s review profile is strongest on sales clarity, workmanship, and general system performance, with many customers describing responsive explanations and professional crews. The most consistent friction points are price transparency, post-sale communication, and delays tied to permitting or activation. Overall, the pattern is positive but not spotless, with several complaint themes showing up across the lower-scoring categories.

How this is built: category scores and summaries weigh the company's full published rating record (580 Google reviews averaging 4.7 stars), the most recent and most relevant review texts, and recurring feedback themes verified acrossGoogle and Yelp. Important context: this chart shows investor-owned-utility records only. Companies that shift work toward municipal-utility territory (LADWP and city power departments) or other states will show declining bars here even while building steadily elsewhere, and 2025-26 records also lag real installation dates. Treat this as a partial window, not the company's full trajectory.

How we built this data

Methodology: Counts are residential PV interconnections in investor-owned-utility territory (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E) per CPUC Rule 21 public records through May 2026. Postal and name variants are merged. Municipal utility territory such as LADWP, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, Anaheim, and Riverside Public Utilities is not included in those CPUC counts. Counts show recorded installations, not quality ratings. Reported costs are self-reported on owned-system interconnections. No installer can pay for placement.

Who we are: Solar.com is a solar marketplace — we connect homeowners with installers and earn a fee when projects move forward. These rankings and scores are computed from public installation records and published customer reviews. No installer can pay for placement, and no installer — including those we work with — can pay to change a score.
